A Bright (Sustainable) Idea

Light Bulb at the Beach

I get so excited when I discover sustainable lifestyle swaps that are simple and also save you money. One of the most recent instances of this was learning more about switching to LED light bulbs.

LED (light emitting diodes) are the most efficient light bulbs on the market, using up to 85% less energy than traditional bulbs, and lasting up to 25 years! There are about 6 billion screw-in sockets in US homes, and 2-3 billion of those have inefficient light bulbs in them. If every home in the country switched to LEDs, we'd save an estimated 38 million tons of carbon dioxide emissions per year!

Plus, it can save you money as well! On average, every household would save around $100 a year on the electric bill by switching to LED light bulbs! It's truly the brightest idea.
